Manipur United Triumphs at Bishnupur Girls’ Football Tournament 2025
In an electrifying finale, Manipur United Football Academy lifted the trophy at the Bishnupur Girls’ Football Tournament 2025, defeating ICSA Irengbam 3–2 in a closely contested match held at the Mini Secretariat Complex, Bishnupur.
The five-day tournament, organised by the 08 Battalion CRPF in collaboration with the Deputy Commissioner, Bishnupur, Sports Authority of India, Manipur Police, NHPC, and NHIDCL, featured 12 teams competing in a 7-a-side format. The tournament began on October 30, 2025, and showcased remarkable talent, teamwork, and sportsmanship among the participating players.

Addressing the closing ceremony, Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam, praised the event as a celebration of unity and resilience, highlighting how players from diverse communities and regions came together through their shared love for football.
She remarked, “Sports have the power to heal, to unite, and to build peace. This tournament stands as a beacon of hope – a reminder that when we invest in our youth, in our girls, and in sports, we invest in a brighter, stronger, and more peaceful future for Manipur.”

Smt. Pooja Elangbam extended her gratitude to the organizers, sponsors, and supporters, while congratulating both the winners and all participants for their dedication and sportsmanship.
Chief Guest Shri I.K. Muivah, ADGP, Manipur Police, lauded the initiative for promoting women’s participation in sports and encouraged more such tournaments in the future. He commended the players for their passion, perseverance, and discipline.
Among the distinguished guests present were IGP CRPF Shri Vimal Kumar Bisht, Head of Project NHPC Shri Gursharan Singh, Smt. N. Kunjarani Devi, Commandant M&N Sector, Olympian Smt. Sushila Devi Likmabam, and commanding officers of various Central Forces.
Held under the theme “Sports for Peace and Development,” the Bishnupur Girls’ Football Tournament 2025 was part of the Khelo India initiative, promoting women’s empowerment, inclusivity, and community development through sports.
