Massive Counter-Insurgency Operation Conducted in Heirok Part-III Forest; Huge Cache of Arms and Ammunition Recovered
Thoubal, April 6, 2025:
In a significant development, security forces in Thoubal district launched a massive counter-insurgency operation today in the forest area of Heirok Part-III Uyok Ching, based on credible intelligence inputs. The operation, led by the Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations), Thoubal, and comprising 12 teams including personnel from DSP (HQ) and OC-CDO/TBL, was conducted under the direct supervision of the Superintendent of Police, Thoubal.
During the course of the search, the teams came under fire from suspected militants belonging to the banned outfit KCP (PWG). The security forces retaliated effectively and bravely pursued the fleeing miscreants for nearly two hours. As a result of the chase and subsequent search, the teams discovered a large, well-concealed militant base camp believed to have been used as a shelter by the armed group from time to time.
Upon searching the camp, the forces recovered a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and other items, including one SLR rifle bearing body number EC 7521, one 12 Bore single barrel gun with body number VS 28549, one LMG magazine, 21 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, 14 blank cartridges, three kartogs, and one firing pin. Additionally, several tear smoke and stun shells were seized, including eight Tear Smoke Shells (SR), eleven Tear Smoke Shells (N), one Tear Smoke Shell (Chilli), and three stun shells. The teams also recovered three bulletproof jackets with two plates, camouflage uniforms including trousers, shirts, bags, and caps, two school bags, a sleeping bag, jungle boots, a black sports shoe, and various camping items such as blankets, jars, buckets, and a baty.
Medical supplies were also found at the site, including twelve Betadine bottles, sixteen syringes, four I-V sets, eighty paracetamol tablets, and one pack of cotton. Notably, one white TATA Safari bearing registration number MN07L 1464 and two Gypsy vehicles without registration numbers were also seized from the camp around 7:10 am after observing due formalities.
The camp was completely destroyed and burned down by the security teams to ensure it could no longer be used by insurgents. The operation, which commenced at around 4:00 am, concluded successfully at 9:00 am. All seized items have been handed over to the concerned police station for necessary action and further investigation.
This successful operation marks a major setback for insurgent activities in the region and highlights the ongoing commitment of Thoubal police to maintaining law and order.
