Kshetrigao MLA Seeks Recognition for Asatullah, SDRF Job for Son

Imphal, Sept 21: Sheikh Noorul Hassan, Leader of the Legislative Party (NPP) and MLA of 4-Kshetrigao Assembly Constituency, has urged the Governor of Manipur to honour Shri Tampakmayum Md. Asatullah of Urup Awang Leikai, Imphal East, for his exceptional humanitarian service in recovering drowned bodies.

In a letter to the Raj Bhavan, Hassan noted that the 75-year-old has retrieved more than 482 bodies over the years, often risking his life by remaining underwater for long durations. He said Asatullah’s selfless service has brought relief to many grieving families.

The MLA also recommended that one of Asatullah’s sons be given suitable employment in the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to help preserve and transfer his father’s rare skills for water rescue operations.
