A high-level delegation from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India, visited the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, for the 54th Executive Committee (EC) Meeting held yesterday at Sushruta Hall, RIMS. The meeting was chaired by Ms. Punya Salila Srivastava, Secretary (Health & Family Welfare).

The delegation included Dr. Manashvi Kumar, Joint Secretary (H&FW); Shri Rajendra Prasad Sati, Deputy Secretary (H&FW); Shri Anurag Tiwari, Under Secretary (H&FW); and Dr. L. Swasticharan, DDG (EMR) (H&FW).

During their two-day visit, the officials undertook an extensive inspection of the RIMS campus, covering key facilities such as the New OPD Block, Dental College, College of Nursing, PMR, Sports Medicine, Casualty, and various ongoing construction projects. The team also interacted with faculty and students while reviewing RIMS’ modern infrastructure, patient care services, and ongoing research initiatives.

The 54th EC meeting served as a platform to review institutional progress, policy implementation, and strategic planning. It included detailed deliberations on academic development, research advancement, and healthcare delivery improvements.

Interactive sessions were also held with RIMS stakeholders—including faculty members, nursing and non-teaching staff, and students—to discuss challenges and opportunities in academic and healthcare sectors. The delegation further met with officials from the State Health Department to explore collaborative strategies aimed at strengthening healthcare systems, workforce development, and improving health outcomes across Manipur and the Northeast region.

The visit underscored the Ministry’s continued commitment to advancing quality medical education and healthcare infrastructure in the region.
