NFR’s RPF Seizes Contraband Ganja Worth Over Rs. 19.69 Lakh, Arrests Two Women Smugglers
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has intensified its crackdown on contraband smuggling, recovering approximately 196 kg of Ganja valued at over Rs. 19.69 lakh in recent operations. Between September 25 and October 2, 2025, RPF teams across various stations and trains seized the illegal substances and apprehended suspects involved in smuggling.
On October 1, RPF teams recovered a total of 14.1 kg of Ganja worth around Rs. 1.41 lakh in two separate operations. At Dimapur Railway Station, 10 kg of Ganja valued at Rs. 1 lakh was seized, while 4.1 kg worth Rs. 41,000 was recovered by the CPDS team of RPF/Alipurduar Junction from Train No. 13174 DN at New Coochbehar Railway Station. The contraband was handed over to the respective GRP units for further legal action.

On September 30, RPF personnel at Agartala recovered 31 kg of unclaimed Ganja worth about Rs. 3.10 lakh from the station yard. The items were handed to the Officer-in-Charge of GRP Agartala, who registered a case for further investigation.


Earlier, on September 25, a joint team of RPF and GRP at Badarpur Railway Station intercepted two women passengers aboard Train No. 12508 (Silchar–Thiruvananthapuram Central) carrying suspicious bags. Upon inspection, the bags contained 26.445 kg of Ganja valued at approximately Rs. 2.64 lakh. The women were arrested and the contraband seized for legal proceedings.
The RPF of NFR reaffirmed its vigilance against illegal activities such as drug smuggling, theft, and human trafficking, while continuing to assist passengers during their journeys.
