One-Day Awareness Programme on "Violence Against Women" Held at Santhel Bazar
Imphal, March 27, 2025:
The Manipur State Commission for Women (MSCW), in collaboration with the All Santhel Women Development Association, organized a one-day awareness programme on “Violence Against Women” at the Community Hall in Santhel Bazar today.
The event witnessed the participation of nearly 120 individuals, both men and women. Dais members who graced the occasion included Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang, Chairperson of MSCW; Lourembam Dayabati Devi, Member-MSCW; Sk. Sophia Moyon, Member-MSCW; Md. Sikandra Ali, Pradhan of Hangul Gram Panchayat; and Najam Phundreimayum, Secretary of the All Santhel Women Development Association.
A technical session featured Mv. Ruhul Amin, Secretary of Jamiatul Ulama Manipur, who delivered a talk on “Women and Islamic Laws.” The session highlighted the importance of understanding Islamic legal perspectives in safeguarding women’s rights.
Chairperson Thumlip Tiningpham Monsang emphasized the importance of acquiring formal knowledge on women’s rights and Islamic laws. She encouraged all participants to collaborate using their unique talents for the betterment of women and to build a stronger, more inclusive society.
The programme concluded with a call for unified community efforts to combat violence against women and ensure the welfare of all women in society.
