Pawan Yadav Appointed as Private Secretary to Home Minister Amit Shah
New Delhi, March 26, 2025 – The Government of India has appointed Shri Pawan Yadav, IAS (MN:2014), as the Private Secretary to the Minister for Home Affairs & Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah. The appointment was confirmed through an official memorandum issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) on March 26, 2025.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the curtailment of Shri Pawan Yadav’s tenure as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs under the Central Staffing Scheme. Following this, he has been appointed as Private Secretary to the Home Minister at the level of Deputy Secretary. His tenure will continue until April 2, 2027, or until further orders, whichever comes earlier.
The appointment will take effect from the date he assumes charge. His role as Private Secretary will be co-terminus with the tenure of the Minister, meaning he will serve in the position as long as Shri Amit Shah holds office or until further instructions are issued.
The memorandum, signed by Deputy Secretary Annies Kanmani Joy, has been circulated to key government offices, including the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, and the Chief Secretary of Manipur, among others.
This appointment reflects the government’s continued focus on strengthening administrative support within the Ministry of Home Affairs.
