PPAM Demands Resignation of 59 MLAs, Slams Assembly Secretariat Over Lack of Transparency
Imphal, 27 May 2025 – The People’s Progressive Alliance Manipur (PPAM), along with its affiliated group Imagi Meira, has called for the resignation of 59 Members of the Manipur Legislative Assembly (MLAs), alleging a persistent failure to carry out their duties.
In a press statement, PPAM accused the MLAs of “abandoning their constitutional responsibilities” during a time of ongoing crisis in the state. The alliance said such dereliction of duty has severely undermined public confidence in the state’s democratic institutions.
PPAM also criticized the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat for failing to respond to repeated requests for transparency regarding MLA privileges and expenditures. A formal letter submitted by the alliance on May 6, 2025, to the Assembly Secretary outlined their concerns and sought detailed disclosures about the financial and material entitlements of both current and former MLAs.
