Private Schools’ Body Calls for NCERT-Standard Textbooks in Manipur
The All Manipur Recognised Private Schools’ Welfare Association (AMRPSWA) has adopted a series of resolutions aimed at improving the quality, timely availability, and content standards of textbooks published by the Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM). The resolutions were passed unanimously during a “One Day Discussion on the Paper and Printing Quality of the BSEM Textbooks and Their Content,” held recently.
According to the association, textbooks for Classes 1 to 10 must be made available by the last week of December 2025 for the 2026 academic session. The association emphasised that the printing quality, illustrations, and overall content of BSEM textbooks should match NCERT standards. It noted that the existing paper quality and printing practices require significant improvement.
The meeting further resolved that the topics and contents of BSEM textbooks be aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework.
In a strong message to the authorities, AMRPSWA stated that in the event BSEM fails to publish textbooks on time, schools may adopt textbooks from other publishers for all classes except IX and X, as a means to put pressure on the concerned department.
To ensure long-term reform, the association called for the establishment of a State Textbook Corporation/Society for the seamless functioning, timely publication, and availability of textbooks across all schools in Manipur.
