Security Forces Seize Large Cache of Arms and Ammunition in Multi-District Operations Across Manipur
Security forces conducted extensive search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas of hill and valley districts, leading to significant recoveries of arms and ammunition. On March 7, 2025, a search operation at Sekmaijin Hangul under Hiyanglam Police Station in Kakching District resulted in the recovery of various weapons, including an SMG Carbine, multiple rifles, grenades, a walkie-talkie wireless set, a bulletproof helmet, riot-control munitions, and other materials. In another operation at Thawai Kuki village under Litan Police Station in Ukhrul District, security forces seized country-made mortars, pumpi guns, explosive materials, and an unserviceable Baofeng set. Meanwhile, in Bidyanagar under Jiribam Police Station, Jiribam District, authorities discovered pump-action shotguns, a large quantity of 12-bore cartridges, 7.62 mm rounds, handsets, bulletproof jackets, helmets, and other military gear. A separate search at Chingkhei Ching under Porompat Police Station in Imphal East District led to the recovery of an INSAS rifle magazine, various types of ammunition, RPG and mortar shells, hand grenades, and suspected explosive materials. Additionally, operations in Senam under Tengnoupal Police Station, Tengnoupal District, uncovered a range of firearms, including an INSAS Ex Calibre rifle, multiple carbines, an FGC9 mm rifle, locally made pistols, improvised mortars, bulletproof jackets, and a large cache of live rounds and mortar bombs. These successful operations highlight the ongoing efforts of security forces to maintain law and order by curbing the presence of illegal arms in the region.
