Senapati District Administration Undertakes Relief Operations Following Devastating Flood
Senapati, June 3, 2025: The District Administration of Senapati has launched extensive relief operations in response to severe flooding caused by incessant rainfall beginning on the evening of May 30, 2025. The flooding impacted numerous areas across the district, prompting the evacuation of affected residents to designated temporary shelter homes.
A total of 354 individuals have been relocated to shelters established at various locations including the Skill Cum Rural Entrepreneurship Development Centre, ADC premises in Senapati, and additional shelters in Purul Sub-Division (14 shelters), Lairouching (15), Chillivai Phabung (15), Willong (23), Paomata (20), Tadubi (12), and Senapati (6).
Basic relief materials including drinking water, rice, dal, cooking oil, clothing, and essential commodities have been distributed to evacuees. Multiple government departments have also initiated efforts to clear silt and debris, and to distribute clean water and bleaching powder in affected areas such as Angkailondi, Viewland, Council Colony, and Vakho.
In anticipation of health emergencies, the Medical Department has constituted Medical Response Teams to address any medical issues arising from the disaster.
According to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), 61 localities have been affected and 1,445 houses damaged. While no fatalities or missing persons have been reported, the flood has resulted in the loss of livestock.

The District Administration continues to monitor landslide-prone areas and is actively clearing blockages along national highways and inter-village roads. Earlier, Mamoni Doley, IAS, Chairperson of DDMA and District Magistrate of Senapati, had issued weather alerts, ordered a two-day closure of educational institutions, and imposed restrictions on hoarding, stockpiling, and price manipulation.
