Senior IPS Officer Nurul Hoda Resigns in Protest Against Waqf Law
April 18, 2025, Bihar: In a bold and symbolic move, senior IPS officer Nurul Hoda, a 1995-batch officer known for his integrity and service, has announced his resignation from the Indian Police Service in protest against the recently amended Waqf law. Hailing from Sitamarhi in Bihar, Hoda has served the nation for nearly three decades across some of India’s most sensitive zones.
Widely respected in administrative and civil society circles, Hoda’s resignation has sent ripples through the bureaucratic and political landscape. “I have always believed in standing with justice, and today, my conscience no longer allows me to remain silent,” Hoda said in a statement.
Throughout his career, Hoda held key positions in high-pressure regions including Dhanbad, Asansol, and the Delhi division. He gained a reputation for his innovative approaches to railway security, Naxal control, and crime prevention, earning him the Vishisht Seva Medal twice and the Director General Chakra on two occasions.
Beyond the uniform, Hoda has been a passionate advocate for social change. In his native village, he has been providing free education to nearly 300 underprivileged children, firmly believing that education is the foundation of true empowerment.
Now stepping out of service, Hoda is set to enter public life. “After years in khaki, I will now wear khadi,” he said, indicating his intent to join politics. His entry is driven by a vision to address systemic issues through democratic platforms and bring about meaningful change for both his community and the nation.
