SFD Manipur and Manipur University Celebrate World Language Day with Environmental Awareness Drive
Students for Development (SFD) Manipur, in collaboration with the Forestry Department of Manipur University, celebrated World Language Day with a unique environmental awareness initiative. The event, held from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM, saw active participation from 528 attendees, including students, faculty members, and distinguished guests.
A key highlight of the program was an interactive activity where participants wrote messages on environmental protection in their mother tongues, emphasizing the role of linguistic diversity in spreading ecological awareness.
The event was graced by Dr. Vivek Vaishnav, Head of the Department of Forestry, along with faculty members Dr. Salam Dilip, Dr. Robert Panmei, Kwairakpam Romesh, and Dr. Romeechand Loushambam, who played a pivotal role in the initiative’s success.
Prominent attendees included Shri Gautam Philem, ABVP State Secretary; Pinubala Laishram, ABVP State Joint Secretary; Dr. Aribam Indira, SFD State In-charge; Borrish Kumar, State SFD Convenor; and Amrita Sharma, State SFD Co-convener. Their presence reinforced the significance of environmental conservation efforts.
The event successfully promoted the urgency of protecting the environment while celebrating linguistic heritage. Through collective action and educational engagement, the initiative highlighted the importance of sustainable practices, making the celebration a resounding success.
