SSUM Condemns MPSC for Negligence in Civil Services Mains Exam, Demands Accountability
The Socialist Students’ Union of Manipur (SSUM) has strongly condemned the Manipur Public Service Commission (MPSC) for what it described as “unprecedented negligence” during the conduct of the MPSC Civil Services Mains Examination 2025.
In a press release issued by Salam Inaoyaima Singh, Publicity and Information Secretary of SSUM, the union stated that during the forenoon session of the examination held on Sunday, a question paper carrying the correct title was distributed but contained questions meant for the afternoon session. SSUM described the incident as a “shocking administrative failure,” exposing serious lapses in MPSC’s verification and printing procedures.
The union said the blunder highlighted grave negligence and a breakdown in confidentiality and quality control, thereby undermining the Commission’s credibility and integrity.
Recalling previous controversies, including the 2016 examination fiasco, SSUM stated that such repeated mismanagement reflects “institutional incompetence and a lack of accountability” within MPSC, further eroding public trust.
The union demanded that the MPSC issue a public apology and detailed clarification regarding the procedural failure. It also called for the constitution of a high-level inquiry committee to identify those responsible and initiate disciplinary action against the officials involved.
Furthermore, SSUM urged the implementation of strict preventive measures to avoid such lapses in future examinations.
Standing in solidarity with all affected candidates, SSUM appealed to the Government of Manipur to intervene immediately to ensure transparency, accountability, and justice, asserting that “no aspirant should suffer due to the Commission’s negligence.”
