Two KCP (PWG) Cadres Arrested in Bishnupur for Extortion Activities
Bishnupur, March 25: In a swift early morning operation, Bishnupur Police arrested two active cadres of the proscribed outfit Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group) – KCP (PWG) – from Thangtek Terakhong, Nambol. The arrests were made today around 7:59 am and 8:01 am following credible inputs received from the 33 Assam Rifles and corroborated by local sources.
The operation was led by Shri P. Sanjoy Singh, MPS, DSP/CDO-I Bishnupur and Sub Y. Shaktishen Singh, OC/CDO Bishnupur, under the supervision of Shri Amarjit Singh Lamabam, MPS, Addl SP (Ops) Bishnupur and overall guidance of Shri Ksh. Ravikumar Singh, IPS, SP Bishnupur.
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
1. Wairakpam Jagatchandra Singh alias Theko (31), son of W. Ibochouba Singh of Thangtek Terakhong, Nambol
2. Pebam Romen Singh alias Naopung (28), son of P. Manihar Singh of the same locality
During preliminary interrogation, the duo admitted to serving monetary demands to various establishments including Meisnam Ngari Dukan at Phoijing Chingning, a doctor based at Kwakeithel, an oil pump at Phayeng, and a private school at Sagolband, from which they had already extorted Rs. 5,000.
Two mobile phones were seized from Wairakpam Jagatchandra Singh at 8:03 am with proper legal formalities. Both individuals were subsequently handed over to Nambol Police Station for further investigation and necessary legal action.
The arrests mark a significant step in the ongoing efforts to curb extortion and unlawful activities carried out by underground outfits in the region.
