Yumkhaibam Nazakat Gang of Khergao Yumkhaibam Arrested for Kidnapping and Monetary Demand

Imphal, May 24, 2025: In a significant development, Yumkhaibam Nazakat of Khergao Yumkhaibam, along with his associate, has been arrested for the alleged kidnapping and assault of a 40-year-old man in Imphal East.

As per FIR No. 118(05)2025 PRT-PS, filed at Porompat Police Station, Saroj Khan of Khergao Awang Leikai was forcibly taken from his home on May 19 around 4:30 PM by Nazakat and his gang. He was illegally confined at the Achumba Khongnathang Rehabilitation Center in Kongba and subjected to torture. The accused also demanded a ransom of Rs. 20,000 and took Khan’s mobile phone.

Khan was rescued on May 21 with the help of locals and admitted to JNIMS hospital for treatment of serious injuries. His daughter, Miss Baseimayum Rabina, filed the complaint that led to the registration of the FIR.

Sources also confirmed that Yumkhaibam Nazakat had previously been arrested under the POCSO Act and was out on bail at the time of this latest incident.

Following the FIR, Porompat Police acted swiftly and arrested Nazakat and his associate. The investigation is ongoing, and further legal action is expected.

Locals have expressed relief at the arrest and are demanding strict punishment for the repeated offender and his gang.
