CBI Confirms Arrest of Arambai Tenggol Leader, Move to Guwahati

“He was involved in various criminal activities related to Manipur violence in 2023” : CBI

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday arrested a member of Arambai Tenggol (AT) at Imphal Airport according to CBI press release for his alleged involvement in criminal activities linked to the 2023 Manipur violence. The arrest was made as part of the ongoing investigation into the ethnic conflict cases being probed under the direction of the Supreme Court of India.

According to the official CBI press release, the individual was taken into custody and later transported from Imphal to Guwahati, where he will be produced before the competent court for police remand. The agency has also informed the arrested person’s family about the development.

The CBI reiterated that the investigation is being conducted as per the Supreme Court’s instructions, and that trials related to the Manipur violence have been shifted from Manipur to Guwahati due to prevailing law and order concerns in the state.

The agency confirmed that the probe is ongoing.
