Scuffle Breaks Out in Senapati as SP’s Vehicle Damaged During ANSAM-Led Protest
On Tuesday, tensions flared at the Senapati district headquarters during the ongoing 48-hour office picketing protest led by the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), when a scuffle reportedly broke out between protesters and police personnel. The confrontation allegedly stemmed from the Superintendent of Police’s (SP) refusal to comply with the protest directives, resulting in a heated exchange and damage to the SP’s vehicle.
The protest, which began on June 2, 2025, continued into Thursday, effectively shutting down government offices across the Naga-inhabited hill districts of Manipur. The agitation was spearheaded by ANSAM and actively supported by the Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) and its federating units — including the Mao Students’ Union (MSU), Maram Students’ Union (MKS), Poumai Naga Students’ Union (PNTM), Thangal Students’ Union (TAJ), and Zeliangrong Students’ Union, Senapati Zone (ZSU-SZ). The widespread shutdown significantly disrupted administrative functions throughout the naga dominated district.
