Six Suspected AT Members Arrested for Abduction and Death of Md. Nawash, AT Denies Involvement
Manipur Police have arrested six individuals in connection with the abduction and subsequent death of Md. Nawash (33), son of Md. Leharuddin of Keirang Mayai Leikai under Heingang Police Station. According to Manipur Police, Nawash was abducted from his home on January 14, 2025, allegedly by suspected members of the group Arambai Tengool, and was later found dead at Thoubal District Hospital on January 16, 2025.

The arrested individuals, all suspected members of AT, have been identified as:
1. Sagolsem Chingkheinganba Singh (25)
2. Chingakham Sanatomba Singh (19)
3. Sapam Somorjit Singh (32)
4. Maibam Bokenjit Singh (24)
5. Athokpam Jiban Singh (30)
6. Chingakham Mani Singh (41).
The motive behind the abduction was reportedly ransom, but the incident took a tragic turn, leading to the death of the victim. The police have stated that further investigations are ongoing to uncover additional details about the group’s involvement and activities.
Arambai Tenggol Unit 2 Denies Involvement

In a press release issued by Arambai Tenggol Unit 2, the group distanced itself from the incident, clarifying that the accused were not acting on their behalf. The release stated:
“On January 15, 2025, some individuals used the name of Arambai Tenggol Unit 2 to arrest a drug user, which tragically resulted in the individual’s death. This act is not related to Arambai Tenggol Unit 2. The individuals involved have been arrested by us and handed over to the police.”
