Over 30 Migratory Bird Species Recorded in Lamphelpat Annual Census
The Annual Migratory Bird Census at Lamphelpat, Imphal West, was successfully carried out by the Central Forest Division in partnership with Wildlife Explorers, Manipur. The survey documented more than 30 migratory bird species, underscoring the need for wetland conservation in Manipur.
The census was led by Kiranjit Yumnam, Range Forest Officer of Sadar West Range, with support from volunteers and the Water Resources Department. Officials highlighted the importance of this collaborative initiative in monitoring bird population trends and protecting regional biodiversity.
