NPF Clarifies Stance on Delimitation Process in Manipur
Senapati, March 26, 2025 – The Naga People’s Front (NPF) Manipur State Unit has issued a formal clarification regarding its stance on the proposed delimitation process in Manipur. The party refuted claims made in local media that all political parties, including the NPF, have resolved to oppose the process.
According to the clarification letter, the General Secretary (Admin) of NPF Manipur State Unit, Mr. Honreikhui Kashung, attended the All Political Party Meeting with a colleague, hoping to engage in discussions aimed at fostering peace and normalcy in the state. During the meeting held on March 25 at the NPP Conference Hall in Imphal, Mr. Kashung conveyed that, as per the CEO of Manipur, there has been no official communication from the Election Commission of India (ECI) regarding delimitation.
The NPF Manipur State Unit stated that the matter of delimitation was not a relevant topic for discussion at the meeting, as it was based on a recent Supreme Court order that was already covered by print media. However, the party expressed its dismay over “irrelevant reports” published in local newspapers, which claimed that all political parties had resolved to oppose the delimitation process.
To clarify its position, NPF Manipur State Unit categorically stated that it does not oppose the delimitation process if and when it is officially initiated.
The clarification comes amidst growing concerns and political debates surrounding delimitation, which affects electoral constituencies and representation in the state.
