RIMS Clears Allegations of Medical Negligence in Death of 12-Year-Old Girl
The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, has issued a statement clarifying that there was no evidence of medical negligence in the treatment of 12-year-old Khusi Sanjenbam, who passed away after being admitted to the hospital earlier this year.
According to the RIMS press release, Khusi, daughter of Shri Sanjenbam Ananda Meitei of Kwakeithel Moirang Purel, was admitted to RIMS Hospital on May 27, 2025. Following allegations of negligence surrounding her treatment, the hospital constituted an Inquiry Committee to investigate the circumstances of the case.
After a thorough review of the medical records and treatment procedures, the Committee concluded that the management of the case adhered to standard medical protocols and evidence-based practices. The use of antibiotics and other medications was found to be appropriate and in line with established clinical guidelines.
The Committee further clarified that the selection of drugs is based on therapeutic efficacy and microbial sensitivity, not on cost or assumptions.
Expressing sorrow over the loss, RIMS authorities extended their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. The institute also urged the public not to circulate unverified or misleading information on social media, emphasizing that such actions could demoralize healthcare professionals working diligently for patient care.
The clarification aims to put to rest the rumors and misinformation circulating online regarding the case.
