Jiribam Forest Division Joins Grand Finale of 71st Wildlife Week Celebration 2025

The Jiribam Forest Division participated in the Grand Finale of the 71st Wildlife Week Celebration 2025 through video conferencing from the Conference Hall of the Divisional Forest Officer, Uchathol, Jiribam. The state-level event, held at the City Convention Centre, Imphal, was graced by Governor Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla as Chief Guest and Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, IAS, as Guest of Honour.

Divisional Forest Officer Elangbam Nirmala Chanu, District Information Officer Nameirakpam Bidyananda Singh, Honorary Wildlife Warden Huirem Rajen Kumar Singh, Range Forest Officers Nongthombam Biraj and Numeetkappa Ningthemcha, staff of Jiribam Forest Division, along with students and teachers from various schools, attended the virtual event. Participants also viewed a short video on the Pangolin Conservation Project in Manipur, aimed at promoting awareness of wildlife protection.

The 71st Wildlife Week Celebration, held under the theme “Human–Wildlife Co-existence” from October 2 to 8, 2025, featured a range of activities in Jiribam, including awareness programmes, plantation drives, wildlife painting and essay competitions, district-level quiz contests, loudspeaker campaigns, and a nature trail walk at Ningsingkhul Biodiversity Park.

Led by DFO Elangbam Nirmala Chanu, the weeklong observance sought to foster a sense of responsibility among students and the public toward wildlife preservation. The Jiribam Forest Division continues to actively engage communities in conservation efforts and promote harmony between humans and nature.
