Speaking to reporters, Ibomcha noted that he had already issued a statement on October 10 detailing their recent visit to Delhi. “This time, we went to Delhi to apprise the central leadership about the current political situation in Manipur. That was our first objective,” he said.
He added that the delegation had urged the Centre to accelerate the ongoing peace process and subsequently establish a popular government in the state. “The Centre has assured us that a popular government will be installed soon. The extended term of President’s Rule for six months will not be further extended,” Ibomcha said.
When asked about the timeline for forming the new government, he replied, “No, no, I cannot say that. I can only say that before the current term of President’s Rule ends, a government will be formed. It may happen very soon.”
On the recent demolition of Redlands (Manipur Rajbari) in Shillong, Ibomcha described the event as “quite unfortunate” and stated, “We strongly condemn it.”
Meanwhile, four MLAs—BJP Manipur Spokesperson Khongbantabam Ibomcha Meitei, Leishangthem Susindro Meitei, Yumnam Khemchand, and Usham Deben—have returned from Delhi, with others expected to arrive later in the evening.
