KOREA MANIPURI ASSOCIATION CELEBRATES NINGOL CHAKOUBA 2025 AT JEONJU
The Korea Manipuri Association (KMA) celebrated Ningol Chakouba 2025 with grandeur at Jeonju, one of South Korea’s most scenic and culturally rich cities. The event, held on October 3, well ahead of the traditional date of October 23, saw the participation of Manipuris from across South Korea in a joyous gathering of culture, unity, and shared heritage.
The celebration also welcomed guests from other communities, reflecting KMA’s inclusive spirit and commitment to promoting cultural exchange. The festive atmosphere came alive with an array of performances, including soulful songs by married Manipuri women (Ningols), a graceful traditional dance by young ladies (Leishabi), and lively performances by children showcasing their talents. The KMA Pibas (men) played an active role in organizing and supporting the event, ensuring its success.

No Manipuri festival is complete without traditional delicacies, and the event offered a nostalgic feast featuring lafu eronba, uti ashangba, nga thongba, singju, and other beloved dishes prepared by the KMA Pibas. The meal evoked cherished memories of home and family gatherings.
A highlight of the event was the introduction of the Laibak Fabi KMA Ningol title to honor grace, cultural pride, and contribution within the community. Miss Monita was conferred the title for 2025, earning heartfelt applause from attendees. Adding to the festive spirit, a special housie game was organized exclusively for KMA Ningols, creating moments of laughter and friendly camaraderie.

In his closing remarks, KMA President Dr. Bobby Soram expressed deep gratitude to all members for their dedication and teamwork. He underscored the importance of preserving Manipuri traditions as a unifying force among the diaspora and encouraged greater participation in future celebrations.
Ningol Chakouba is one of Manipur’s most cherished festivals, symbolizing the bond of love and respect between brothers and sisters. The successful organization of the event in Jeonju highlighted how Manipuris abroad continue to nurture their cultural roots and keep the spirit of Ema Manipur alive across borders.
The Korea Manipuri Association remains committed to fostering unity, cultural preservation, and mutual support among Manipuris in South Korea, carrying forward the enduring spirit of home, tradition, and togetherness.
