MMDO Assam Submits Memorandum to Governor on ILP Requirement for Manipuri Muslims

The President of the Manipuri Muslim (Pangal) Development Organisation (MMDO), Assam, Md. Abdul Nur Choudhury, along with five members of the organisation, called on the Governor of Manipur, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, at Raj Bhavan, Imphal, on Wednesday.

During the meeting, the delegation submitted a memorandum raising concerns over the Inner Line Permit (ILP) requirement for Manipuris, particularly Manipuri Muslims (Meitei Pangal) residing in Assam and Tripura, when entering Manipur.

They emphasized that the community shares deep historical, cultural, and ancestral ties with Manipur and appealed for their recognition as part of the same social and ethnic lineage.

Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla assured the delegation that the matter would be looked into.
