72nd All India Co-operative Week 2025 Launched in Imphal
The 72nd All India Co-operative Week Celebration 2025 was inaugurated today at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound, Imphal, under the theme “Cooperatives as Vehicles for Atmanirbhar Bharat” with a focus on digitalization for improved efficiency and transparency.
The event was graced by Dr. Shailesh Kumar Chourasia, IAS, Commissioner (Cooperation), as Chief Guest, with Waikhom Ibohal Singh, MCS, Registrar of Co-operative Societies, as President. Other senior officials from MSCU and ICM Imphal also attended.


Dr. Chourasia hoisted the Co-operative Flag and stressed the need for active participation from members to strengthen Manipur’s cooperative movement. Highlighting challenges in the sector, he called for better coordination, training, and adoption of digital systems. He also emphasized the potential of cooperatives in handloom, handicrafts, agriculture and local industries to boost employment and reduce youth migration.


He urged societies to understand and fully utilise government schemes, including computerization of PACS, and encouraged collective effort during the week-long celebration.
Officials, staff, and former directors of the Cooperation Department participated in the programme.
