District-Level ASHA Convention Held in Bishnupur to Recognise Community Health Workers
The District Health Society, Bishnupur, today organised the District-Level ASHA Convention 2025 at Kiyamba Ningshing Shanglen to acknowledge the contributions of Accredited Social Health Activists (ASHAs) in improving community health indicators across the district.

Deputy Commissioner Pooja Elangbam, attending as Chief Guest, praised ASHA workers for their role in strengthening healthcare delivery at the grassroots. She noted their involvement in immunisation drives, maternal and child health services, disease surveillance, and public awareness efforts during health emergencies. Describing them as “real leaders of the community,” she urged ASHAs to stay updated, alert, and closely coordinated with other frontline workers.
Elangbam added that Manipur’s low infant mortality rate reflects the sustained efforts of ASHAs and called for continued collective work to build a healthier district.
During the convention, the district’s Best ASHA Award was presented, and long-serving ASHA workers were felicitated for their service.
The event was attended by Chief Medical Officer Dr. L. Raichandra Singh, State Nodal Officer (ASHA) Dr. Jubilee Wahengbam, District Family Welfare Officer and District Nodal Officer (ASHA) Dr. L. Kuber Singh, District TB Officer Dr. S. Brojen Singh, and Medical Superintendent of District Hospital Bishnupur Dr. Kh. Satyabala Devi.
