G-5 Threats to Sumang Leela Artists of Sangai Festival: Manipur Police Register Five Cases, Arrest Three Cadres

Manipur Police have registered five cases across multiple districts in connection with threats issued by G-5 insurgent groups against participants of the Sumang Leela Associations and other performers who took part in the recently concluded Manipur Sangai Festival 2025.

According to a statement from the Police Department, the FIRs have been filed in Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Kakching districts. Investigations are currently underway to identify all individuals involved in issuing the threats.

So far, three cadres of the G-5 group have been arrested in connection with these cases.

The police further reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring safety and security for artists and the public, stating that strict legal action will be taken against any attempt to intimidate, threaten, or disrupt cultural activities and public events in the State.

Authorities have appealed to th6e public to cooperate and report any information related to such intimidation attempts.
