Manipur to Commemorate Nupee Lal Numit 2024 on December 12

Imphal, December 10, 2024: The Government of Manipur is set to commemorate Nupee Lal Numit 2024 on Thursday, December 12, to honor the valiant sacrifices of Manipuri women who participated in the historic Nupee Lal movement. The state government has made extensive preparations to ensure the successful observance of this important day, which will take place at two venues: the Nupee Lal Memorial Complex and the Central Hall of GP Women’s College, Imphal.

Shri N. Biren Singh, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Manipur, will preside as the Chief Guest, with Smt. Irengbam Nalini Devi, Hon’ble MLA, serving as the event’s President.

The observance will begin at the Nupee Lal Memorial Complex with a floral tribute to the departed women freedom fighters, led by the Hon’ble Chief Minister. Following this, a series of events will be held at the Central Hall of GP Women’s College. The program includes an opening song performed by artistes from Shri Shri Bal Mukanda Dev Government Music College, speeches by dignitaries, and a Nupee Lal drama presented by the Nupee Lal Memorial Association Drama Party. The event will conclude with a closing song by the same music college’s artistes.

This solemn occasion serves as a tribute to the resilience and determination of the women of Manipur and a reminder of their significant role in the state’s history. The public is encouraged to join in paying homage to these brave women and celebrating their enduring legacy.
