Indefinite Bandh Over Tiger Road Construction Hits Normal Life in Kangpokpi and Noney Districts

An indefinite bandh called by the Foothills Naga Coordination Committee has severely affected normal life in Manipur’s Kangpokpi and Noney districts. The protest is against the alleged “unauthorised construction” of the Tiger Road, which aims to connect Churachandpur and Kangpokpi districts.

The Tiger Road, a voluntary project initiated by Kuki groups, reportedly runs through areas inhabited by Naga communities, sparking tensions between the two groups.

According to officials, bandh enforcers set up blockades at several points, including Makhan in Kangpokpi district and various key routes in Noney district such as Tongjei Maril (Old Cachar Road), Dolang Chiru, the Tupul-Noney Road, Tupul–Noney Junction, and the Longsai–Khoupum Road.
