‘No Mercy for Murderer’: JAC and Civil Groups Demand Life Sentence for Seema Shahni’s Husband
In a strongly worded joint press release, the Joint Action Committee (JAC) Against the Brutal Murder of Seema Shahni, along with the Youth Voluntary Organisation (YOVA), Kshetrigao Meitei Pangal United Clubs (KMPUC), and the YSSU Keikhu, has demanded life imprisonment for Khutheipham Mujibur Rahman of Keikhu Maning Leikai, who allegedly murdered his wife, Khullakpam Seema Shahni, by slitting her throat in the midnight hours of June 21, 2025.
The organizations appealed to the public to collectively demand the maximum punishment—life imprisonment—for Mujibur Rahman and urged that no individual or group should attempt to defend or shield the accused.
They further called on the Imphal East Porompat Police, which is handling the case, to expedite the release of the forensic report, carry out a thorough investigation to uncover any possible accomplices, and ensure the preparation of a proper chargesheet. The press note emphasized that swift and just action is crucial to prevent such heinous crimes in the future.
The joint statement also appealed to legal professionals to refrain from defending the accused, stating that justice for the victim must not be obstructed.
