Ambush on Assam Rifles Convoy at Nambol, Two Killed, Four Injured

In a major incident of violence, unidentified gunmen ambushed a convoy of the 33 Assam Rifles (AR) at Nambol Sabal Leikai, under Nambol Police Station in Bishnupur district, on Friday evening around 5:50 pm.

According to reports, the attackers opened fire on a Tata 407 vehicle carrying AR personnel from Imphal towards Bishnupur. In the sudden assault, two personnel were killed on the spot, while four others sustained injuries. The injured personnel have been rushed to hospital for treatment.

Security forces have cordoned off the area, and a search operation is currently underway to trace the assailants.
