Stress Management and TB Awareness Programme Held at Kamjong

A stress management intervention programme and tuberculosis (TB) awareness campaign were held today at Awuntang, Kamjong District. The event was organized by the District Health Society, Kamjong, under the National Mental Health Programme.

Shri Hanyo Luke Rungsung, SDC Kamjong District, attended the programme as the chief guest, while Dr. P. S. Leishiwon, Chief Medical Officer of Kamjong District, also graced the occasion.

In his address, Shri Hanyo Luke Rungsung stressed the importance of understanding mental stress, its causes, and practical ways to manage it effectively. He shared strategies such as mindfulness, relaxation techniques, time management, and social support as key tools for improving emotional resilience. He also drew attention to the connection between mental and physical health, particularly in relation to TB.

Highlighting the need for early detection and timely treatment, Shri Hanyo urged the community to combat stigma and misinformation surrounding TB through collective awareness and compassion. Dr. P. S. Leishiwon spoke about the social challenges faced by TB patients and emphasized the availability of free government services for diagnosis and treatment. She noted that both stress management and timely health-seeking behaviour are vital for a healthier society. 

The programme saw enthusiastic participation from health officials, students, community leaders, and local residents, reflecting strong community involvement and support for promoting mental health and TB awareness in the district.
