MSFDS Selects Four Delegates for 56th International Film Festival of India
The Manipur State Film Development Society (MSFDS) has selected four delegates for partial sponsorship to attend the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI), to be held in Goa from November 20 to 28, 2025. The initiative marks another step in promoting Manipur’s growing presence in the national film landscape.
The selected delegates represent a diverse cross-section of Manipur’s film and media sphere:
• Alexander Leo Pou, an emerging filmmaker who will pitch his project at the Co-Production Market of Film Bazaar;
• Heirangkhongjam Bhavan Meitei, a noted journalist known for his writings on Manipur, who will serve as the festival correspondent;
• Md. Abul Basir, a film editor; and
• L. Sashikanta Singh, an experienced projectionist.
While Bhavan Meitei will report on IFFI and Film Bazaar for audiences back home, the other delegates will take part in the festival’s wide-ranging activities, including sessions on global cinema trends, marketing, and collaborative opportunities.
To facilitate their participation, MSFDS will provide Rs. 1 lakh, to be shared equally among the four delegates, from its grant-in-aid for promotional activities.
The Selection Committee for 56th IFFI 2025 Goa was chaired by Shri Gyan Prakash, IAS, Commissioner, Art and Culture, Government of Manipur, along the executive Board Members of MSFDS – Shri Kh Kuleshwar, Film Forum Manipur Chairman, Shri Oken Amakcham, Shri W. Makang, Romi Meitei, Sonia Nepram and Sunzu Bachaspatimayum, secretary MSFDS.
MSFDS offers such opportunities annually to support filmmakers, media professionals and cultural journalists. With this year’s selection, the Society reaffirms its commitment to elevating Manipur’s creative talent on the national stage.
