Bishnupur DAPCC Observes World AIDS Day 2025

The District AIDS Prevention and Control Committee (DAPCC), Bishnupur, observed World AIDS Day 2025 under the theme “Overcoming Disruption, Transforming the AIDS Response” at the Conference Hall of the Old Chief Medical Office today.

Deputy Commissioner Bishnupur, Smt. Pooja Elangbam, speaking as Chief Guest, said this year’s theme underscores the need to overcome recent setbacks and strengthen the AIDS response through resilience, innovation, and sustained efforts. She highlighted that human-rights-based strategies, as promoted by the WHO, remain crucial to achieving the global target of ending AIDS by 2030.

She noted that World AIDS Day stands as a global moment of unity, bringing people together to raise awareness, share updates on the HIV/AIDS situation, and promote progress in prevention, treatment, and care. The observance, she added, also serves to honour those who lost their lives to AIDS and acknowledge achievements such as improved access to treatment.

Chief Medical Officer Bishnupur, Dr. L. Raichandra, and District T.B. Officer, Dr. S. Brojen Singh, attended the programme as distinguished guests.
