“If My Wife Is an ISI Agent, Then I Am a RAW Agent”: Gaurav Gogoi Hits Back at Assam CM Himanta

Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has strongly responded to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s allegations about his wife, Elizabeth Colbourn, having links to Pakistan’s ISI. In a sharp rebuttal, Gogoi stated, “If my wife is an ISI agent of Pakistan, then I am a RAW agent of India.”

The exchange began after Sarma questioned Colbourn’s professional background, suggesting her associations raised concerns about foreign influence. He also claimed her interactions with Pakistani officials and her refusal to take Indian citizenship were suspicious.

Gogoi dismissed these claims as “baseless and politically motivated,” alleging that the BJP is resorting to false accusations due to a lack of real issues. He further accused the Assam CM of trying to divert attention from allegations against Sarma’s own family.

The war of words between the two leaders reflects the deepening political divide in Assam, where national security, foreign ties, and religious identity have become key points of contention. Gogoi has previously criticized Sarma for engaging in “divisive Hindu-Muslim politics,” asserting that the people of Assam will reject such narratives in the upcoming elections.
