Illegal Arms and Ammunition Surrendered in Bishnupur Following Governor’s Appeal
Bishnupur, March 1, 2025: Responding to the appeal made by the Hon’ble Governor of Manipur for the surrender of looted and illegal weapons, a significant cache of arms, ammunition, and tactical gear was handed over to the Bishnupur District Commando Unit today.
Among the surrendered items were various firearms, including a .303 rifle, a double-barrel breech-loading gun (DBBL), four single-barrel breech-loading guns (SBBL), and a country-made .32 pistol along with its magazine. Explosives such as six No. 36 HE grenades, nine detonators, and three WP smoke grenades were also submitted. Additionally, a substantial amount of ammunition, including 54 rounds of .303 ammunition, 11 rounds of SLR ammunition, and 10 rounds of 5.56 Amogh live ammunition, was surrendered, along with various other cartridges, chargers, and magazines.
Security and tactical gear were also among the surrendered items, including 19 bulletproof vests, six bulletproof helmets, nine BP plates, and a Baofeng wireless set. Military apparel such as camouflage pants, shirts, T-shirts, and a cap was also turned in. Two Insas LMG magazines, an Insas rifle magazine, and various ammunition-related items were handed over to the authorities.
