Manipur University Hosts Viksit Bharat District-Level Youth Parliamentary Festival 2025
Imphal, March 22, 2025 — The Court Hall of Manipur University buzzed with youthful energy and political discourse today as it hosted the Viksit Bharat District-Level Youth Parliamentary Festival 2025 for the Imphal West Nodal Kendra.
The event was part of a nationwide initiative under the National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) and was inaugurated at 11:00 a.m. with the presence of prominent dignitaries. Prof. N. Lokendra Singh, Vice-Chancellor of Manipur University, graced the event as Chief Guest, while IPS (Retd.) Shri Sarangthem Manaobi (Khoiranthaba) served as Guest of Honor. Dr. Salam Danachandra Singh, Deputy Director of NYK Imphal West, presided over the ceremony.
Dr. Laishram Santosh Singh, Programme Convenor, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of the festival in engaging youth with democratic processes. A total of 71 participants representing five districts — Imphal West, Imphal East, Bishnupur, Thoubal, and Kakching — took part in the session.
Manipur has designated five nodal institutes for the NYPF 2025. Manipur University covered five districts, while Don Bosco Maram, St. Joseph’s College Ukhrul, SEMCO College, and Jodanang Memorial College handled the remaining districts across the state.
With the conclusion of all district-level rounds, shortlisted candidates from across Manipur will now prepare for the State-Level Youth Parliament, scheduled for March 26, 2025, at the Manipur Legislative Assembly.
Chief Guest Prof. Lokendra Singh highlighted the evolution of NYPF since its inception in 2019, noting its growing national importance. He emphasized that the platform is not just for discussion but for generating real solutions, culminating in a youth-drafted resolution that will influence national discourse.
Guest of Honor Shri Manaobi encouraged the youth to recognize their leadership potential and view themselves as agents of change.
The parliamentary session featured lively debates judged by a panel including educationists and administrative experts. The event wrapped up with motivational feedback from the jury and closing remarks from NSS Programme Officers Dr. Kh. Herachandra Singh and Dr. H. Suraj Singh.
The festival showcased the promise of Manipur’s youth in shaping a progressive and participatory democracy.
