Asia Pacific Foundation Hosts Seminar on Revisiting Manipur’s Golden Era

The Asia Pacific Foundation, Manipur, organized a one-day seminar-cum-workshop on the theme “Revisiting the Golden Era of Manipur” at The Junction Conference Hall, LMS Arcade, Ningthemchakarong.

The event featured 11 speakers who shared their insights on various sub-topics, including the politics of ethnicity, the concept of inclusivity, and the life and contributions of Meitei Pangal political leaders. A significant discussion centered around why the current generation is perceived as lacking the wisdom of their forefathers and the importance of acknowledging collective history.

One of the prominent concerns raised was the limited discourse on women’s issues within domestic spheres. Speakers questioned why, despite women playing critical roles in major social and political movements, their challenges in the private domain remain largely unaddressed.

The seminar provided a platform for both intellectuals and activists to exchange perspectives, fostering a deeper understanding of Manipur’s socio-political landscape. Participants emphasized the need to bridge historical insights with contemporary challenges for a more inclusive and reflective society.
