Indian Army Extends Vital Support to IDP Camp in Ukhrul

 

 

Ukhrul, March 26, 2025: In a compassionate outreach to marginalized communities, the Indian Army extended vital support to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp at Mongkot Chepu in Manipur’s Ukhrul district. The humanitarian event was organized in the presence of Army officers and Ukhrul Deputy Commissioner, Mr. Ashish Das.

 

The distribution drive included essential relief items such as school bags, solar lights, and hygiene kits, aiming to alleviate the challenges faced by the financially weaker residents of the camp. Over 180 individuals, including camp residents and local villagers, attended the programme.

 

Mr. Hanoe Baite, General Secretary of the Kuki Students’ Organization (KSO), Ukhrul, delivered the welcome and keynote address, appreciating the Army’s continuous commitment to community welfare.

 

Army personnel engaged directly with the community members, encouraging them to stay determined and resilient in the face of adversity. The initiative received heartfelt gratitude from community leaders and residents, highlighting the Indian Army’s unwavering dedication to uplifting underprivileged sections of society.

 

The event was coordinated by the Defence Wing of the Press Information Bureau, Ministry of Defence, covering the regions of Manipur, Nagaland, and Southern Arunachal Pradesh.
