Tangkhul Naga Long Lifts Ban on Muslim Business Transactions in Ukhrul

Ukhrul, 31st May 2025: The Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL), headquartered in Ukhrul, has officially lifted the prohibition on all business transactions of the Muslim community in Ukhrul town. This move follows an earlier order dated 25th May 2025, which had suspended business activities involving Muslims in response to the murder of Lt. AS. Thotshang.

In an official order issued on 31st May 2025, the TNL directed that all concerned parties be notified of the revocation of the earlier restriction. The new directive allows the resumption of all business transactions involving the Muslim community in Ukhrul headquarters town.

The decision came after the completion of assessments related to the murder of Lt. AS. Thotshang, son of AS. Chinaongam from Tashar village, Ukhrul district, Manipur. He was reportedly murdered on the evening of 20th May 2025 after being called out from his residence in Hamleikhong, Hungpung. The accused, identified as Abiss Uddin alias Chottu, a mechanic at Mona Workshop in Hungpung, allegedly committed the crime during the Shirui Lily Festival.

The order was signed by Thanreingam Muivah, Additional Secretary of Tangkhul Naga Long.

The TNL acknowledged the support received during the recent events and expressed appreciation for the community’s unity through the difficult period.
