Shija Hospitals Conducts Breast Cancer Awareness Programme at Manipur University

As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Langol, Imphal, in collaboration with the Manipur University Health Centre and the Department of Manipuri, Manipur University, organized an awareness programme on breast cancer at the Manipur University Department Hall.

The session was led by Dr. Ajit Lukram, Consultant Surgeon at Shija Breast and Thyroid Clinic and Clinical Fellow (Breast and Endocrine, Colorectal Surgery) from North Cumbria University Hospital, United Kingdom. Dr. Lukram emphasized the importance of early detection, regular self-examination, screening, and preventive measures to reduce breast cancer-related mortality.

Participants received breast cancer awareness booklets printed in both Manipuri and English. During the programme, Shija Hospitals also announced special concessions — 25% off on investigations like digital mammograms and breast ultrasonography, 10% off on procedures, and 20% off on general ward bed charges for Manipur University students and staff.

The event was attended by over 100 participants, including students, faculty, and staff members.

This initiative underscores Shija Hospitals’ commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and enhancing public understanding of breast cancer through collaborative education and outreach.
