Shija Hospitals and Lions Club Leimarol Organise Breast Cancer Awareness Programme at Khongjom

In observance of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Shija Hospitals & Research Institute, Langol, Imphal, in collaboration with the Lions Club of Leimarol, organised an awareness programme on breast cancer at the Community Hall, Khongjom Bazaar.

Dr. Ajit Lukram, Consultant Surgeon at Shija Breast and Thyroid Clinic and Clinical Fellow (Breast and Endocrine, Colorectal Surgery) from North Cumbria University Hospital, United Kingdom, served as the resource person of the programme. He highlighted the importance of early detection, timely intervention, and preventive measures in reducing breast cancer-related mortality, while emphasising regular self-examination and screening as vital tools for early diagnosis.

During the session, breast cancer awareness booklets in Manipuri and English were distributed among participants. The programme was attended by over 40 individuals, including members of the Lions Club Leimarol, Dr. Ajit’s patients, and local residents.

The initiative underscored Shija Hospitals’ continued commitment to promoting preventive healthcare and raising awareness of breast cancer through collaborative outreach and education efforts.
