RIMS Upgrades Key Units to Full-Fledged Departments, Plans New Super-Specialty Services

The Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal has upgraded its Neurosurgery Unit and Cardiothoracic & Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Unit into full-fledged departments with independent budget allocations. Dr. Th. Gojendra Singh has been appointed Head of Neurosurgery, while Dr. Th. Chito Singh will lead the CTVS Department.

RIMS stated that the upgradation will strengthen patient care and significantly boost academic activities, paving the way for future MCh super-specialty courses in both disciplines.

The institute has also created a separate Pediatric Surgery unit under Prof. I. Keshorjit for improved patient care and academic development.

RIMS further announced plans to establish new departments of Endocrinology, Gastroenterology and Haematology to expand specialized healthcare services in the region.
