Nouwa Marup, Pune Extends Support to Relief Camp in Urup
Urup, December 10, 2024: As part of its Annual Charity Program, Nouwa Marup, a Pune-based organization of Manipuri families, visited the Urup OBC Girls Hostel Relief Camp today, bringing much-needed relief and encouragement to the camp’s 170+ residents. The camp houses displaced individuals, including women, children, and elderly people, primarily from Moreh, Pombikhok, and Churachandpur, with over 68 children under 18 years old.
The Nouwa Marup team, led by Mr. Suraj Nepram and supported by Mrs. Tejbala and Ms. Aarohi, distributed educational materials such as books and pens along with food items to the camp residents. Addressing the students, Mr. Suraj emphasized the importance of continuing education despite the ongoing crisis and assured that Nouwa Marup would extend its support whenever needed.
Laishram Sunildro Singh, a volunteer in charge of the camp, expressed gratitude for the support received from the Manipuri diaspora living outside the state. He highlighted the significance of such contributions during these critical times and urged for continued assistance from both the government and other diaspora groups.
Mrs. Tejbala discussed various educational opportunities offered by the central government to help affected students continue their studies in other parts of the country. The camp’s residents shared their emotional struggles and called for swift action from the state and central governments to restore normalcy and ensure a peaceful return to their homes.
Established in 2018, Nouwa Marup, Pune, focuses on preserving Manipuri traditions and providing equal opportunities for children of Manipuri families living away from home. Regularly organizing social initiatives, the organization aims to nurture empathy and cultural pride among young minds. Nouwa Marup has its headquarters in Pune and a branch in Imphal.
