Emergency Shutdown Declared in Churachandpur by HSA

Churachandpur, March 17, 2025: The Hmar Students’ Association (HSA), Tuithaphai Joint Headquarters, has declared an emergency total shutdown in Churachandpur District following the failure of the perpetrators involved in the assault of Richard Laltanpuia Hmar, General Secretary of Hmar Inpui, to surrender.

According to an official statement issued by HSA, the shutdown follows the directive from **Hmar Inpui General Headquarters (HQ)**, which had set a **10:00 AM deadline on March 17, 2025**, for the assailants to report to the Hmar Inpui Office in Rengkai. Since the perpetrators did not comply within the allotted time, the **shutdown has been imposed until further notice**.

The association, however, clarified that **medical services, electricity, water supply, and ongoing examinations** would be exempted from the restrictions.

The move comes after **Richard Laltanpuia Hmar** was **brutally assaulted** on the night of **March 16, 2025**, near **VK Montessori School, Zenhang Lamka**. The attack has sparked widespread condemnation, with Hmar Inpui terming it a **cowardly act** against a community leader.
