Sheikh Noorul Hassan: ‘I Do Developmental Politics—There’s No Place for Enemies in Progress’
Imphal, April 14: Kshetrigao MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan was felicitated today by the Athletic Brothers’ Association (ABA) in recognition of his support and encouragement as the club secures a spot in the 2nd Manipur Premier League—one of the top-tier football tournaments in the state, organized by the All Manipur Football Association (AMFA).
The felicitation ceremony took place at the Club Complex in Kshetri Mayai Leikai and was attended by officials from Kshetrigao Meitei Pangal United Clubs (KMPUC), local residents, and well-wishers.
During the event, MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan expressed his happiness, stating, “I’m very pleased that ABA, one of the oldest clubs in Manipur, has been given an opportunity to participate in the highest football league of the state. Let’s try to win this tournament.”
He emphasized that ABA represents all communities and added, “When ABA excels, it is a proud moment not just for the club but for the entire constituency and the dignity of Manipur.” He also announced that the team’s participation in the league will be sponsored by the Sheikh Babumacha Memorial Trust (SBMT), a family-run foundation.
Highlighting his commitment to the development of Kshetrigao, Hassan said, “I have been working for the betterment of this constituency even before becoming a public representative, and I continue to do so. There are no enemies when it comes to development. Those who seek political mileage with narrow intentions should stop. Let’s focus on uplifting our constituency.”
He promised visible changes soon, including concrete roads, street lighting, and proper drainage systems. “Even in this challenging time for Manipur, I’m dedicated to making Kshetrigao a model constituency,” he said.
An executive member of ABA, Qutub Ali, shared that although ABA is one of Manipur’s oldest football clubs, its development had been slow over the years. However, with the involvement of MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan and MCS Hakim, the club complex saw significant improvements in a short span. “Their contributions have enabled us to establish an academy, host tournaments, and participate in major championships,” he said, adding that the event was held to appreciate Hassan’s support.
MLA Sheikh Noorul Hassan also handed over official club jerseys to the ABA team during the ceremony.
