Forest Department Launches Statewide Awareness Campaign on Wildlife Protection
Imphal, April 19, 2025:
In a bid to enhance public awareness and participation in wildlife protection and forest conservation, the Forest Department of Manipur has initiated a comprehensive awareness campaign across the state. The campaign, flagged off from Imphal today, aims to reach schools, colleges, and community centers to educate citizens on the significance of preserving biodiversity.
The department will collaborate with local NGOs, educational institutions, and media houses to amplify the message. A series of events including seminars, street plays, eco-club activities, and nature walks have been planned throughout the coming weeks.
Officials from the Forest Department highlighted the growing concerns over illegal wildlife trade, deforestation, and habitat loss, emphasizing the need for collective action. The department reiterated its commitment to enforcing wildlife protection laws while also promoting sustainable livelihoods for forest-dependent communities.
The campaign also encourages the public to report any suspicious activities related to wildlife through dedicated helplines and community forest watch groups.
With the tagline “Our Forest, Our Responsibility,” the department hopes to instill a sense of stewardship among the people of Manipur, fostering a culture of conservation and respect for nature.
