51-Year-Old Woman Found Dead Under Suspicious Circumstances in Sagolband

Imphal, April 21:

A 51-year-old woman, Nongthongbam Ningol R.K. Lakhibai (Tomba), was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her husband’s residence in Sagolband Bijoy Govinda on Sunday afternoon. Lakhibai was the wife of R.K. Chaoba, aged 72. Her parental home is located in Khurai Lamlong Bazar, Puthiba Leikai.

The incident was reported around 1:00 PM after local residents raised an alarm. According to initial reports, Lakhibai was found hanging, with visible bruise marks on her body, raising suspicions about the nature of her death.

Locals claimed that a heated altercation had taken place at the residence earlier in the morning, which has further fueled suspicion surrounding the case.

Police have taken custody of the body for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Authorities have assured a thorough investigation into the matter, including questioning of witnesses and those present in the household.
